Scamming is on the rise, so watch-out. The scammers want your money. Internet content is 90% fake. Your debit card and your credit card are up for grabs because criminals can clone your card using ‘shimming’ overlays and take ALL your money and your identity.

Nevertheless, life goes on and you have to earn a living so – be aware or of your surroundings at all times; never take out your wallet or purse unless you are inside a secure building.

And … if the language you conduct your life in is English, make sure that when you need your written content to be edited that you get the best possible value for money.

So … you need to ask the following questions when choosing an editor:

  • 1. How long have they been editing?
  • 2. Are they accredited to the Oasis Editors platform?
  • 3, Do they have a website? and if so – does it look professional?
  • Do they offer ‘Tracking” as a benefit?
  • Do they have testimonials in their website?
  • If they seem a bit ‘fishy’ it’s a good idea to check their record in ‘Hello Peter’
  • Do they pay attention to issues like the author’s unique ‘voice’ syntax, active and passive voice and tenses etc.?
  • Do they offer a double edit at no extra cost?
  • Do they offer a range of services such as cover design, ebook design and layout and copy-editing as a standard service, instead of just proofreading?
  • Will they be able to get under the skin of your writing?
  • Do they respond promptly to your quote request on a user friendly, no obligation quote form?
  • Do they do a sufficiently thorough job of proofreading and editing so as to prevent the risk of plagiarism?

(P.S. Here are some tips on how to protect your money: my personal conclusions)

  • Tap – don’t swipe your card – a shimming chip may already be in the ATM machine
  • Don’t lose sight of your debit or credit card
  • Install a safe in the wall of your home and keep some cash in it for emergencies
  • Watch the media for news about the security status of banks
  • If the staff member says the ‘tap to pay’ method isn’t working, leave the premises and find another service provider.
