Busy Bee Editing would like to thank all the students, graduates, post graduate students businesses and myriad other individuals and companies for all the FANTASTIC SUPPORT you guys have given us during the topsy-turvey year of 2022.

We are delighted to report that our business has grown by leaps and bounds during 2022. Best Wishes for an even better 2023.

It’s high time we did another free English update; so we have dedicated this instalment to the very important subject of OVER USAGE OF CERTAIN PHRASES AND WORDS.

1. Once again: Never say or write: at this point in time; just say, now or at present or today or right now

2. The word through is grossly over-used. Rather say ; by means of or due to or caused by or as a result of

3. using the word basically is an absolute NO NO! because it insults the reader or person being addressed’s intelligence by implying that they are too dumb or ignorant to understand the concept being discussed, so the writer or speaker has to simplify it down to more BASIC LANGUAGE.

4. The word would is very often used incorrectly because the word would implies that if a certain thing happens some other event would occur. as a consequence. e.g. if global warming continues at a certain rate – sea levels would rise.

5. The word further -is over used to indicate that a certain event will occur as a result of something that has already occurred. Rather use the word furthermore, or as a result or consequently.

There are many other over-used words or phrases which I will describe in future instalments.

Best Wishes,

Hugo and Brenda
