John Steenhuizen, leader of the official opposition, makes no bones about loudly proclaiming his party’s stance on the role his party will play as KINGMAKER in the 2024 elections.
In a recent interview with Morning Shot, he contrasted two scenarios; one where a coalition between the DA, together with all opposition parties who agree on democratic principles and policies which he dubbed the MOONSHOT SCENARIO would participate in signing an ELECTORAL PACT; with the other scenario being an alliance between the DA and the EFF which he called the DOOMSDAY SCENARIO, which he believes will result in a catastrophic and rapid decline into a communistic, totalitarian regime featuring the scenario that the EFF wants; meaning a total redistribution of land, all of which would be owned by the ruling coalition, total ownership by the coalition of all major businesses, mines, industry, communications, transport routes etc.
He said that what the DA envisaged was that; sometime in the near future, the D.A. would endeavour to have a meeting to institute such an electoral pact with all like-minded opposition parties who would then agree on what to do if the vote in 2024 goes the DA’s way; so that the various participants in the pact could then decide on a joint strategy that would ensure that going forward, the ANC would no longer be able to continue ruining the country, as it has been doing since 1994.
The policies that come out of that meeting would then be concentrated on strategies that would allow South Africa to undertake a growth path that would constructively start to repair the damage caused by the horrendous self-serving policies adopted by the ANC, which would include above all, constructively attacking the enormous ongoing corruption that has progressively been destroying everything and now, more than ever before, is wrecking the country. which, if left unchecked will continue until there is nothing left.
When it comes to the election in 2024, Steenhuizen said that should it transpire that none of the parties are able to secure 50% of the national vote, then the D.A. together with all the signatories to the pact, could jointly decide on a policy that would ensure that no matter what, would prevent the EFF or the ANCs RET FACTION from being able to take power. He EMPHASISED THAT; THAT LIKE MINDED PEOPLE SHOULD – KEEP THE EFF OUT OF THE UNION BUILDINGS! because if they got a foot in the door, they would aggressively pursue: expropriation without compensation and wholesale nationalisation, including nationalisation of the Reserve Bank. MASSIVE DISINVESTMENT AND MASSIVE CAPITAL FLIGHT would then follow, which would then result in misery and poverty throughout the land.
When asked whether the DA; as Anchor Tenant, would consider aligning itself with the ANC if all other options failed, he said that the DA would be prepared to talk to any party, provided that they are in agreement on principles and policy.
