We are in something of a lull it seems. Winter is in full swing, with intermittent rain showers, freezing winds sweeping in from the North, keeping those of us who work from home indoors most of the time; so, there is some time, in-between assignments, to ponder on what will happen from 1 September onwards (Spring Day). Warmer days will bring increasing activity on the political front, with the National Elections early in 2024.
That and the ensuing year will be a watershed moment for our country as we grapple with the multiple possibilities that could ensue in what will surely be a hugely important period in our history. Will we be engaging in a truly New Dawn for our democracy as we struggle to overcome the conditions brought about by the many disastrous mistakes made by our government; particularly more recently, which we all had to suffer under; or will we have to endure more mistakes, more poverty and unemployment, more corruption, lies and outright theft from the ANC government.
Given that neither the ANC nor the DA are likely to get more than 50% of the poll on their own, I can only hope that the Moonshot Pact between the DA and other like-minded parties, envisaged by John Steenhuizen of the DA will come to fruition, as it seems that only a coalition between cooler heads in the opposition camp will work to turn the tide – as the alternative scenario; the DOOMSDAY COALITION between the socialistic/communist ANC and the EFF can only be catastrophic.
Isn’t it amazing how the loadshedding so suddenly, without warning, disappeared. One day we had severe loadshedding issues, and the next – virtually no loadshedding. The parallel between this situation and the sudden disappearance of Covid is also startling. I think that this so-called government, despite all their shortcomings are extremely adept at hoodwinking the majority of South Africans into thinking that the ANC actually knows its arse from its elbow. Why do so many people accept their excuses for their continuing failures? I have to ask.
The other question that puzzles me is – Why can’t the ANC realise that a combination of supporting and refurbishing ageing coal fired power stations; together with encouraging and supporting alternative planet-friendly green policies could work extremely well to reverse the damage caused by load shedding.?
Hopefully, because of the flip-flopping, evasive, self-centred, greedy nature of the cadres in the CABAL – the so-called ANC elite, who are dead-set on dominating the country at all costs will fail to gain 50% plus. they need. I am sure that any alliance in a government that includes the ANC will fail; which will then allow the opposition to take over and run the country better than it is currently being run by the cabal that is crippling everything at prese. Even if the DA ends up being in opposition in Parliament, as part of a coalition; that will be a better outcome than where we are now.
As regards the energy crisis which has served the interests of the CABAL very well; what a pleasure it is to have power for most of the time again. instead of feeding the generator, better conditions for operating our business properly and so on … What a relief! Of course, this sudden recovery of the energy supply is perfectly timed to boost the ANC’s chances in the election!
Whatever outcome we have in the election, we as the electorate, must, at all costs, make sure that as a country, we don’t continue to allow the ANC to continue running our precious country into the ground, as it has been doing since 1994. So, think very carefully about where you put a cross on that vitally important piece of paper. If ever there was an opportunity to improve our country’s future it is in the next 10 to 12 months.
