Finally, reality has come to the fore in South Africa – driven by the only thing that counts these days – MONEY!
Kudos to Enoch for ignoring all the socialist (really communist) garbage put out by the ANC and EFF; all of which is simply an attempt to camouflage the ANC’s attempts to draw theIr dwindling portion of the electorate’s attention (at last count – 45%), away from the realisation of the ANC’s abject failure to stop the country from descending into complete disaster amid rampant anarchy.
GODONGWANA has taken a strong line not to support SOEs like Transnet, ESKOM, Denel and SAA with major bailouts. IT’S ABOUT TIME!
However, what was missing in the midterm budget was serious monetary provision not being made to reduce the level of crime in the country; particularly in respect of the farm murders.
Its HIGH TIME THAT THE FARM MURDER PROBLEM IS BROUGHT OUT FROM UNDER THE RUG AND THAT RAMAPHOSA SHOULD STOP DUCKING AND DIVING ABOUT FARM MURDERS and take some action to deal with the scourge that is depleting our food source; not to mention THE HORRIFIC NATURE OF SUCH ATTACKS!
Reducing the cost of maintaining the civil service, although a step in the right direction, it does not by any stretch of the imagination make significant steps towards stimulating economic growth, reducing unemployment or encouraging foreign based businesses to invest in projects in South Africa. Adding to the enormous amounts of money that the country already owes to foreign institutions will not help South Africa to recover.
In terms of financing; it seems logical that the ANC’s stubborn refusal to give ground on any of its suicidal policies such as BEE, being soft on crime, with very little effort being made to break the power of the criminal syndicates (supporters of whom might well be within the ANC ranks and particularly CADRE DEPLOYMENT, that they will find it increasingly difficult to raise foreign financial support and as a last resort, might borrow from the IMF. However, it is well known that the IMF will certainly include onerous conditions in the loan agreement.; thus making us more vulnerable to having our institutions partially or even fully run by the IMF. That is a two-edged sword because, although it could result in better management of SOEs, IT COULD REDUCE OUR CHERISHED INDEPENDENCE.
Still, maybe it’s worth it if it could BREAK THE POWER OF THE ANC!
What is needed is repairing damaged or neglected equipment or creating newer, more modern and more efficient installations instead of pushing up taxes on wealthy private individuals and reducing the number of government employees; which after all, we know, is only a holding action taken to pacify the ANC detractors and is probably ALL TALK – NO ACTION, which is the one thing the ANC is top notch at.
I don’t for a moment believe that Ramaphosa’s announcement about about ‘fast tracking growth enhancement reforms’ is anything more than ‘hot air’. He has made such promises before and they never transpired!
Even though the US made a fatal mistake in electing Biden as president; the fact remains that for a long time the US has indisputably remained the leading country in the world; both in terms of military capability and in retaining the dominance of the US Dollar and the US economic predominance over the rest of the world. This only goes to show that with the possible exception of Russia and China, capitalism, combined with democracy, has proved itself as the most effective system of government, in today’s ever-changing world.
How can the cadres possibly think that continuing on the path of BEE, patronage, ‘worship’ of the struggle heroes (many of whom who have passed on or are in the waning years of their life, blaming Apartheid – (surely that story has long since passed the point of relevance to today’s society), and totalitarianism. will still work in their favour? – and by the way WHY MUST THE CADRES EAT?
WHAT HAVE THEY DONE FOR THE COUNTRY? – All I, together with an increasing portion of the electorate can see is DESTRUCTION AND FAILURE OF EVERYTHING they have touched in the last thirty years.
The Election
In light of the increasing realisation that the chances of the ANC or any other party have of securing more than 50% of the votes in the coming election; are minimal, so the increasing probability is that we will have a coalition government in 2024.
For the enormous numbers of poor in our country; giving such people the R350-00 a month’s distress grant for another year WILL NOT CUT IT! The rapid scary rate of increases in grocery prices will not allow such distressed families to continue to make it.
Regarding the election possibilities, there appears to be a strong likelihood that there will be a straight fight for votes between the IFP and the DA’s multiparty coalition on one side and an EFF/ANC coalition on the other; with smaller parties tagging along on both sides.
(On a more personal note, I think it is absolutely shocking that, as ordered by the governnment, SARS is authorised to take money out of a taxpayer’s bank account to satisfy an alleged debt owing to SARS, with no notice being given to the taxpayer; thus jeopardising his/her ability to meet debit orders on his/her account. THIS IS A CRIMINAL ACT OF THEFT AGAINST THE TAXPAYER AND HENCE IS AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION. iT IS ALSO UNACCEPTABLE FOR THE BANK TO ALLOW SUCH AN ACTION TO TAKE PLACE BECAUSE BANKS ARE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT YOUR MONEY. Ultimately, such action could well cause bank customers to close their accounts, withdraw their money and PUT IT UNDER THEIR MATTRESSES! BECAUSE THEIR BANK IS NO LONGER FULFILLING ITS MANDATE TO PROTECT CUSTOMERS’ MONEY. Banks should take due cognisance of the situation, and if necessary, should sue the government for losses sustained by the bank.
I DON’T THINK A RUN ON THE BANKS, with everyone withdrawing their money is A GOOD IDEA AT THIS TIME – just before a general election!)
I’m putting my ‘head on the block here by saying; THE ONLY HOPE OUR COUNTRY TO SURVIVE AND RECOVER IS FOR LARGE NUMBERS OF OUR PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR THE MULTIPARTY COALITION SPEARHEADED BY THE DA!
Athough coalitions have had a rocky path to travel so far in places like Tshwane and Gauteng; the good news is that successful coalitions will have to reach compromises if they are resolute about staying in government. That is great because what South Africa needs right now and for the future, is compromises between all people in our country; no matter what skin colour, religious persuasion or political affiliation they hold – who wholeheartedly support the goal of making the country stronger and thus able to ensure a better quality of life for all its citizens.
