Copy Editing

This is the nitty gritty of what needs to be done to give your thesis or book the best chance of success in the marketplace. It includes a detailed word for word, line by line read- through by an experienced editor and proofreader, that will eliminate grammatical errors, improve the flow of your writing, make sure that the syntax (sequence of words in sentences and paragraphs) ensures that the meanings that the author needs to convey are crystal clear; and that the underlying emotions and logic that govern the writing are communicated to the reader.

The writing should be succinct, free of repetition; passive voice should be minimised; tenses should be checked and word choices should be perfect.

Preferably, this process should be done twice to eliminate errors by two experienced editors/proofreaders. This is What Busy Bee Editing can do for you.

If this process is done right, then the next process, proofreading should be a relatively simple task; a final check and polish of the writing to eliminate any errors that could have slipped through the system, before going to print or submission to a supervisor or professor.
