President Ramaphosa seems to be under the impression that despite the emergence of the GNU and all the promises of collaboration and improving the lives of all South Africans the ANC intends to recreate South Africa exactly as it was before the arrival of the GNU.
It seems that that is what the ANC is attempting; but it’s bad news for the ANC – it’s never going to happen, because whatever is being said at the ANC legotla (or whatever it’s called) has no relevance to real life. It is all an ANC pipedream and only time will tell what is going to happen next.
All I know is that Ramaphosa pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes; including the international community, over the GNU. Collaboration with the DA and other parties in a coalition in the belief that the GNU would save South Africa was a last-ditch attempt by the ANC to save the party and South Africa from going into a political wasteland from which the ANC and the country would never return, due to the threat of impending civil war in South Africa, total isolation from international trade and complete loss of all respect from the international community.
community.

I believe that the DA,s and other political parties’ motives for forming a democratically-based coalition were to a large extent genuine; but conversely, that the ANC’s participation was a planned attempt to allow the ANC to stay in power and continue holding the reins of government.
The ANC is luxuriating in the illusion that they can now do exactly as they like in the country; including completely ignoring all the clauses in the GNU Declaration of Intent that all parties in the GNU agreed to.
President Ramaphosa has signed into law a bill that authorises the South African government to seize all forms of land and improvements to land throughout the country, without paying any compensation to the owners. This is completely illegal and contrary to the Constitution and would precipitate a flight of capital and expertise as has never been seen before in our history.
President Ramaphosa has now surpassed his record of making stupid mistakes by really putting his foot in it by signing the EWC bill just before leaving for the WEC conference in Davos. Rob Hersov, a renowned billionaire investor and political activist, in a recent interview with Biznews, averred that very soon, he believed that Trump would be going after Ramaphosa regarding the expropriation bill; in the same way, and that Ramaphosa will meekly back down in the same way as Gustovo Petro the Colombian president did.
Considering the fact that Trump has no great love for South Africa, it would seem that considering the recent power-games he is playing against those he considers his enemies, that Ramaphosa should have avoided signing the EWC bill at that time.
John Steenhuizen stated recently in a press conference that the ANC’S action in signing the bill was completely illegal and contrary to the agreed intentions of the GNU; and we can only hope that he will be able to take legal action against the ANC to stop that initiative in its tracks.
I see that Paul Mashitile, Deputy-President of South Africa has told Dean Mcpherson of the DA that he should resign if he does not support the expropriation bill and Macpherson put him in his place, saying that only John Steenhuizen, leader of the DA has the right to demand his resignation from his post.

The other thing that’s happening right now is that ex-President Jacob Zuma appears to be agreeing with the IFP regarding land and property grabs and surprisingly, they are both opposed to it. Likewise, the EFF under Julius Malema has stated his opposition to the bill.
Personally, I am veering towards the thought that although Zuma is a complete rogue in many ways, perhaps a new coalition between Zuma, Inkatha and the DA, in opposition to the ANC under Ramaphosa might not be such a bad thing. At least it would shake the ANC out of their complacency. Ramaphosa is a jellyfish who is completely useless; as Rob Hersov puts it. At least Zuma has a spine! Anything would be better than what we have now.
Back to Donald Trump and the many enemies he is attacking, who he feels have wronged him.
Denmark, Mexico, Greenland and Panama have shown very clearly that they do not take kindly to his threats, insults and tariffs. What is puzzling about all this is that Trump, with 88 criminal charges and 34 felony convictions against his name has the gall to attempt to take revenge against all the alleged enemies he says he has.
Clearly, like all narcissists, he believes that he cannot possibly be guilty of any wrongdoing; he shows no remorse, and believes that he is worthy of being the leader of the most powerful country in the world.
Trump’s programme of rounding-up and repatriation of foreign criminals seems to be going strong. However, he came up against a snag when two planeloads of illegal immigrants were refused the right to offload the immigrants into Colombia. Trump’s game of golf was interrupted when he received news of this defiance by Colombia; and he immediately hopped on a plane to solve the problem. Apparently, although the President of Colombia initiated the refusal of entry of the planeload of illegals, swiftly reversed the order and Trump then sent them back, using US transport – and they were allowed into Colombia. Allegedly, the reason for this reversal of hostility was the fact that Colombia is hugely dependent on trade with the US. What a Hoot!
One of Trump’s latest moves is that he has put into action a plan to expand the detention facility at Guantana Bay that is intended to imprison up to thirty-thousand of the worst and most violent prisoners in America, many of whom will be arrested at sea by the US Coastguard before reaching the US. The prison has a history of inhumane treatment of prisoners; often without trial, as well as torture. That situation of course will find favour with the Maga followers, many of whom love to see immigrants being maltreated.
The other disastrous move he is making is his decision to shut down Medicaid with no thought for the millions of medically impaired American citizens citizens who are faced with a total lack of support as well as increased risk of an early death, due to Trump’s selfish agenda.
All of this just confirms what was predicted before the election, which is that he doesn’t give a damn about non-oligarchics and the American people as a whole.
